Costume Jewelry Makeovers

Costume-Jewelry Makeovers

I read this article in Blueprint a few years ago and thought "I can so make these" but then of course never did. But I saw it again on Martha's website and I am pretty sure I really need a belt like hers! This weekend I'm digging through my jewelry boxes and walking 3 blocks to the antique store. Even in the snow. Have I ever mentioned how great it is living 3 blocks from a huge antique store is?

Oh, and this is another great example of good curly hair and red lips!

haircut envy

I've talked about this before but on the eve of getting my hair cut I am reminded once again: it rarely occurs that I find cute hair that would actually work for me. Good curly hairstyles are so hard to come by. Especially since most pictures of curly hair you come across feature models who do not have naturally curly hair and I have no intention of ever using a curling iron. Don't even get me started at how Taylor Swift's curls could never look like that naturally...

But how cute is this girl?!?!

I'm fully aware that this is pretty close to the haircut I normally get anyhow but I still think this version is slightly different. And these nautical photos remind me of a short hair version of my mom in high school :)

cute murals

Salisbury has a nice mural about 2 blocks from my house:
A mural in Salisbury, NC
And there are a lot of old Cheerwine ads all around town...

They are nice and historic but I'm going for cute here:

And these are lovely as well:

Chorus Girl

happy weekend :)

This weekend is going to be grand. I can feel it.

To start, I'm going to Boone in the morning. This is only my 3rd short trip since graduating almost 3 years ago. That is sad. But every trip I make time for Espresso News and the really great antique store downtown. Can't wait. And I'll probably see snow. Even better.

I reallllllly miss Espresso News. It's pretty much where I learned how to drink coffee and had college first dates.

I'll probably bake something tomorrow too. Tonight I'll make it my goal to decide exactly what I'm baking.

Then Monday...no work!

Bathroom part deux

Here was my bathroom yesterday morning:
I don't even know where to start with all the things wrong with this bathroom. There are the shower doors, the ugly grey grout between the white tiles, the shower curtain over the window that has rusty blinds, not so attractive sink and vanity, and then you may notice the wall paper.
After living with this for a year and five months I'd finally decided to make some changes.

I'd contemplated this many times but finally HGTV convinced me that taking down shower doors was easy and with the assistance of only a screwdriver it was:

Only one screw to remove for the entire thing to come down!

So then after not knowing what to do next, I decide that while I'm at it I might as well see what's underneath the ugly beige and roses wallpaper. What I found was green wall paper and then real walls!

So with no shower curtain I ventured off to Target but couldn't make a decision there and then decided to go see if the nearest Anthropologie had any of their pretty curtains that were on sale online in the store. And they did! I could barely wait to get home to hang it up (I stopped back by Target and picked up a plastic liner curtain, shower rod, and pretty curtain hangers) and am very pleased with my purchase.

Next weekend hopefully I'll get the walls prepped and maybe even painted! And what to do with that window??

When life closes a shower door, it opens a curtain.

I got a new shower curtain today! And if you have ever seen my tiny bathroom you may be thinking-"don't you have ugly glass shower doors?" Why yes, I did have ugly glass shower doors until I, all by myself, took them down. I took lots of photos of this endeavor and also the project that followed. It actually turned into an entire day project. I'll explain tomorrow...
